The NVGSA Needs You!
We have quite a few positions open on the Executive for next season. If you are passionate about softball and committed to making a difference in the lives of our young athletes, please step up and volunteer. We also need volunteers (especially players) who would be interested in attending community events as NVGSA ambassadors to talk to people about softball, do demonstrations, and hand out brochures.
There are three levels of the Executive which you can contribute to:
- the Board of Directors, who are responsible for guiding the association and making and enforcing policy (to be honest, though, each Board member is also involved in the nitty-gritty activities of the NVGSA);
- the Officers, who each have a specific area of responsibility for the smooth operation of the association;
- the Division Coordinators, who are responsible for team forming, coordinating information and events for their divisions, and communications between coaches, managers and the association.
Please visit the Executive page for a list of the vacant positions. Every position is important and we need your help to be ready for next season.
If you are interested in helping, or if you have any questions about a particular position, please contact Roland Schigas (604-924-0238, executive@nvgsa.com) or one of the other Board members listed on the Executive page. We'd be happy to answer your questions.
NVGSA Ambassadors
We are planning to raise the profile of the NVGSA by participating in community events prior to the next season, and we need volunteers to act as ambassadors at these events. If you are interested in being an NVGSA ambassador, please contact us. The ideal candidate would:
- have a positive and outgoing personality;
- be knowledgeable about softball and the NVGSA;
- be willing to run a simple demonstration with audience participation using "soft" gear;
- be available once or twice for single-day events before the season starts.
Some of the events we are planning to attend include the Act Now BC Road To Health Tour (November 21-23) and our own in-person registration events (January, 2008).
If you are interested in being an NVGSA ambassador, please contact us to let us know.
